For the Department/Entity
Because of the high debt load the Water Enterprise has had to assume to bring
a better quality water source to its customers, it is in the vital interest of Fort Lupton
that this resource be used wisely and efficiently for the following reasons:

o The City will be able to serve a greater population base which will allow it
to lessen the financial burden on the existing customer base to finance the
debt payments.

o The City still intends to use its groundwater supplies to provide low quality
water to large industrial uses and for the irrigation of public grounds. By
better using its water resources, the City will have more water available to
serve new industry, thereby increasing the Fort Lupton tax base.

o By better using its groundwater resources, the City's augmentation
requirements will be lessened, thereby saving the City the money required
to obtain augmentation supplies.

o The City will have more flexibility in its management of its water resources,
if its supplies are not so stretched as to allow little flexibility.

_ . _uo _ _ _ ~~ .ct~(;re.~il!!l delD.ap_d1 t~e Cjty..<:~n.d~c.rea!,~ its \Vatl:! !'tor.?&.e J~~irenlen~St . _ _ '
- - ,. - thereby saving costs.

o The City will be able to extend the time before its wastewater treatment
plant (WWfP) needs expanding, since less indoor water use will also
generally decrease the sewage discharge.

o The City will be able to extend the time before its WfP and storage facilities
needs expanding, since less water use will require less water treatment and
storage.

{25325.100; 05/141961

3
