<br />I <br />l <br />\ <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />the State of Colorado's primary drinking' water standards for nitrates and <br />uranium/radioactivity levels. In addition, the total dissolved solids concentration <br />exceeds twice the recommended level. <br />To comply with the mandate, the City has received a Federal grant of <br />$7.5 million, but has also had to borrow more than $18 million to bring the new water <br />source to Fort Lupton. The City is constructing pipelines, a water treatment plant <br />(WTP), and storage improvements in order to comply with the mandate. This factor <br />has "opened the eyes" of the City to appreciate the value of its water resources and <br />the importance of using these resources wisely.
