uranium mill tailings have been remediated by the UMTRCA project.
The Subjects have a good location just south of downtown Durango and
Santa Rita Park. Relinquishment Area #2 fronts on Highway 160/550 and the
frontage road, and is above highway grade which provides good visibility. Buffer
on the west of Relinquishment Area #1 is assured due to topography and the
adjoining public land.
Approximately 60% of Relinquishment Area #2 is not developable.
According to my GPS measurements, the two leveled sites north and south of the
ravine provide 1.5 acres of developable land. Relinquishment Area #1 has sloping
topography and a small part of the north portion drops into the ravine. However, I
believe the total parcel is usable with grading.
The prior photographs and the maps at the end of this discussion provide
further illustrations.
Improvements
None
Fixtures
None
Use History
Subject was historically used as part of a uranium mill site, specifically the
"Raffinate Ponds" used to settle uranium mill tailings water.
