Prowers County Assessor
301 So. Main Street,Suite 205 Lamar, CO 81052
Phone 719-336-8000 FAX 719-336-7232
Andrew B. Wyatt, County Assessor
July 12, 2004
John Wilkins-Wells
Sociology Water Lab
Department of Sociology
Clark building, B258
Colorado State University
Fort Collins, CO 80523
Dear John,
Following your meeting and presentation on July 8th at the Best Western in Lamar,
Colorado, regarding your proposal to do a study of the drainage systems in the Lower
Arkansas Valley, our office feels your study would be a worthwhile effort.
Our nearly 100-year old drainage systems continue to be important to us. They need
improvement, and it is believed that your study will provide important guidelines toward
pursuing their eventual rehabilitation.
We would also like to be kept informed of the progress of the study and anticipate that
you will be calling on us for information concerning the drainage districts in Prowers
County.
I would hope the study would identify other areas in the County that are experiencing
seep, thus taking lands out of production.
We look forward to your study and the possible benefits it will have for growers and our
lands in Prowers County.
Sincerely,
Andrew B. Wyatt
Prowers County Assessor
3
