We also have an exchange agreement with Tri-County <br /> Water where we deliver water to the water treatment reservoir from the Gunnison Tunnel <br /> and exchange it for water from Ridgway Reservoir. This agreement is for up to 15,000 <br /> ac-ft. per year. UVWUA also has the Taylor Park Reservoir Operation and Storage <br /> Exchange Agreement(1975 Agreement)which allows 2n fill rights in Taylor Reservoir <br /> and to move Taylor first fill credits into Blue Mesa Reservoir. Copies of these <br /> Agreements are available if needed. <br /> The South Canal is located at the outlet of the Gunnison Tunnel,approximately 5.2 miles <br /> southeast of the town of Montrose,Colorado as shown in Figure 1. It was the first large- <br /> volume canal built to transport water from the Gunnison Tunnel for distribution <br /> throughout the Uncompahgre Valley. <br /> Construction of the South Canal took place in divisions between 1904 and 1909 <br /> (Reclamation Draft EA, 2014). It is 11.4 miles long and was designed to carry 1300 cfs. <br /> The South Canal has an absolute decreed water right for 1,175 cfs, a conditional water <br /> right for 125 cfs, and an appropriation date of June 1, 1901, for irrigation, municipal, <br /> stock water and power generation. <br /> The South Canal currently carries up to 1,175 cfs of water directly from the opening of <br /> the Tunnel on the Gunnison River for about 17.2 miles to the Uncompahgre River and the <br /> West Canal System. The South Canal System consists of the Highline-Cedar Valley <br /> Lateral and the AB Lateral. On average, the South Canal diverts 385,415 ac-ft/year of <br /> 4 <br />
