Deputy McAuliffe irct <br /> Deputy Director <br /> DATE: November 12, 2002 <br /> SUBJECT: Agenda Item 20a., November 25-26, 2002 Board Meeting <br /> Mancos Water Conservancy District <br /> Introduction <br /> The Mancos Water Conservancy District (MWCD) is applying for a loan in amount of <br /> $5,486,531 to rehabilitate District facilities, and to consolidate existing debt. The estimated <br /> total project cost is $6,616,550. Please see the attached project summary and map. <br /> Background <br /> The MWCD, located in Montezuma County, provides irrigation and municipal water within <br /> a 13,496-acre service area. The District includes 53,981 acres, assessable for tax <br /> purposes. The District has 2600 members, 225 customers (water users), and 8340 <br /> shares. (One share is equivalent one acre-foot of irrigation water available for allocation <br /> from the Jackson Gulch Reservoir.) District facilities are over 50 years old and the U.S <br /> Bureau of Reclamation has recommended rehabilitation of the inlet and outlet canals. <br /> Feasibility Studies <br /> The MWCD has completed a feasibility study. The study includes an assessment of <br /> alternatives available for rehabilitation of system facilities. <br /> Water Rights, <br /> The MWCD owns a storage right in amount of 9,980 acre-feet (adjudicated 1963), for <br /> the Jackson Gulch Reservoir. Diversions for storage have averaged 9,000 acre-feet for <br /> the period 1994-2000. The MWCD also owns a 1936 direct flow right in amount of 258 <br /> CFS. All diversions are from the West Mancos River. <br />
