Fact sheet which summarizes the recently agreed-upon <br /> proposal to designate the Cache la Poudre River <br /> (Appendix G) . <br /> Chairman Robbins asked each Board member to briefly report <br /> on the local attitudes, concerns and observations gleaned from <br /> their contacts with local interests . Following these statements <br /> and subsequent discussions, the Board took action on the <br /> potential designation of the wild and scenic rivers as follows: <br /> 1. Los Pinos, Piedra, and Dolores Rivers <br /> Ms . Sanfilippo moved, seconded by Mr . Johnston, that it <br /> is the position of the Board that these rivers should not be <br /> considered for inclusion in the national wild and scenic rivers <br /> system pending negotiations for a settlement of the Southern Ute <br /> and Ute Mountain Ute Tribes ' reserved water rights claims is <br /> achieved and the construction of the Animas-La Plata project <br /> ensured or, failing a negotiated settlement, until the litigation <br /> of the claims is concluded. The motion was adopted unanimously. <br /> 2. Gunnison River <br /> Mr . Johnston expressed concern over the designation of <br /> the Gunnison River , particularly with respect to existing water <br /> rights and future uses of the water in Blue Mesa Reservoir . He <br /> also was concerned about Congressman Mike Strang ' s proposal for <br /> designation of the Gunnison River . To reflect Mr . Johnston' s <br /> concern, Mr .
