1. Town of Starkville - $7, 312, due June 1 , 1983 •
2 . Sedgwick-Sand Draws Watershed District - $1, 206.48, due
July 1, 1984.
3. Henry Waneka Mutual Reservoir Company - $1, 020.24, due
January 1, 1984.
Following Board discussion concerning each case and staff
recommendations as set forth in Mr. McDonald' s July 3, 1984,
memorandum to the Board, the following Board actions were taken:
(Appendix D attached)
Town of Starkville - Mr. Vandemoer moved, seconded by Mr .
Lochhead that Mr. McDonald be authorized to write to the mayor on
behalf of the Board indicating that the Board expects the town to
take legal steps to obtain payment from its customers if that is
necessary and pay the $7, 312 due the Board on June 1, 1984, prior
to September 6, 1984. The letter should indicate that the Board
will review the matter at its September 7th meeting and refer the
account to the Attorney General for such action as might be
appropriate if it is still delinquent at that time and specific
steps to remedy the problem are not under way.
The motion was approved unanimously.
Sedgwick-Sand Draws Watershed District - The District
officials contend that no payments are due under the Phase II
contract until the overall project, including the Board ' s newly
authorized participation, is completed by the Soil Conservation
Service. In oral communications, the District stated that it
would like to amend its contracts to defer payments until such
time as the project is completed and assessments can be levied.
Following Board discussion, Mr. Lochhead moved, seconded by
Mr. Furneaux, that the staff explore this matter further and
report its findings at the September Board meeting.
Motion adopted unanimously.
Henry Waneka Mutual Reservoir Company
This reservoir company received construction fund monies in
the amount of $8,485 in 1980 to prepare a feasibility study to
investigate a proposal to rehabilitate the Waneka Dam embankment
and its appurtenances . A contract between the Company and the
Board provided annual payments of $1, 020. 24 over a 10-year
period.
-8-
