The Bureau of Reclamation' s current <br /> schedule calls for construction on the conveyance channel and <br /> laterals in Stage 3 to be initiated in May, 1985. In order to <br /> provide sufficient lead time to prepare designs and specifica- <br /> tions and to award a contract for construction, work on the <br /> designs and specs is scheduled to start in November or December, <br /> 1983 . <br /> The Bureau has advised that it wants the Board and the <br /> District to give their consent by November, 1983, . to the <br /> construction of Stage 3 . The Bureau has indicated that this is <br /> necessary in order for it to proceed with expenditures for the <br /> preparation of designs and specs . Recall that the resolution <br /> passed by the Board on October 7, 1982, consented only to the <br /> drilling of salvage wells in Stage 3 for test pumping purposes, <br /> said wells to be capped thereafter. <br /> At the September 8-9 Board meeting, the Bureau will report <br /> on the status of construction on the project and be prepared to <br /> respond to questions from the Board. Background information is <br /> enclosed .
