ATTACHMENT 1 <br /> 110 FPR 98-468 <br /> Floodplain Information Report, Town of Akron, Washington County, <br /> Colorado, September 1998, including the April 1, 1988 Flood Hazard <br /> Boundary Map <br /> KEY ISSUES: <br /> • The FIR contains approximate information for two unnamed drainageways, each with two <br /> branches,within the Akron corporate limits; one drainageway is in the northeastern portion of <br /> Akron and one is in the southwestern portion of Akron. <br /> • Most of the floodplain for the northeastern drainageway, including both branches, is in town <br /> park, school district open space, or town right-of-way. The floodplain of the southwestern <br /> drainageway, including both branches, is in town-owned open space. <br /> • There is no documented history of significant flooding problems in any of the identified <br /> approximate floodplains; only occasional localized storm drainage problems and flooding of <br /> some parkland. <br /> • The town does not currently anticipate any development activity in any of its identified <br /> approximate floodplains. <br /> 1111 COMMUNITY RESPONSE: <br /> The Town of Akron sent a letter requesting CWCB designation of the 1988 FHBM. CWCB <br /> staff met with the Town Clerk and conducted a field review of the map. The Town is <br /> supportive of the Board's proposed designation and approval of the 1998 FIR, including the <br /> 1988 FHBM. <br /> SUMMARY: <br /> The staff recommends Board approval of the floodplain resolution for the Town of Akron. The <br /> floodplain information contained in the FIR meets the Board's "Floodplain Designation and <br /> Approval Rules". The designation will assure that the most recent floodplain information for the <br /> Town of Akron complies with state statutory requirements. <br /> • <br />
