Columbine Ranches Subdivision is located 14 miles northeast of Denver, near Barr Lake. The Columbine
Ranches Property Owners Association supplies water to subdivision residents for irrigation, stock
watering, and fire protection. The well that supplies this water has a junior water right (1962) and can not
be pumped unless its consumptive use is replaced. The annual volume pumped is 120 acre-feet, and the
consumptive use is 84 acre-feet. The Association plans to purchase senior water rights that are suitable for
augmentation. The Columbine Ranches Property Owners Association is a nonprofit corporation registered
in the State of Colorado. The Association has 54 members and a service area of 160 acres. Robert A.
Longenbaugh, P.E. has been retained by the Association, and has completed the feasibility study. The
Columbine Ranches Property Owners Association plans to purchase the needed senior water rights in
1999. Proposed funding for the project consists of a CWCB loan for 75% of the cost, with the Association
funding the remainder.The Association will fund the cost of the feasibility study.
