<br /> The purpose of the project is to upgrade and improve an existing deflection structure on Skyrocket Creek so
<br /> I that it can handle regularly occurring and extreme flood and/or debris flows from the steep watershed area
<br /> above the city. The existing structure, which was built in 1929 from stones and mortar, has served a very
<br /> useful purpose in the past but is now considered to be at structural risk due to its age. The proposed project
<br /> I will bring the system up to acceptable engineering standards, and will help to protect the City's citizens,
<br /> businesses, visitors, and infrastructure. Feasibility studies have been completed by Mussetter Engineering,Inc.
<br /> in 1997 and Ayres Associates in December 1997.
