will be Junction Creek and Animas River water transported to <br />Junction Creek through the Animas Diversion Canal. The water will <br />be used for municipal, industrial, and miscellaneous purposes in <br />the City of Durango. <br />g. McDERMOTT CANAL diverts . from the 9nimas Diversion Canal <br />to serve lands southward in Colorado and New Mexico. This canal is <br />approximately 33.4 miles long having an initial.capacity of about <br />230 c.f.s. and a terminal capacity of about 25 c.f.s. About 55 <br />lateral and turnout structures wild, be constructed with. built -in <br />measuring devices. The diversion from the Animas Diversion Canal is <br />located at a point from whence the corn .,r common io Sections 14, 15, <br />22 and 23, Township 34 North, Range 11 West, N.M.P.M., bears South <br />21023f West, a distance of 4620 feet. The.source of water in this <br />canal is the-Animas River diverted by the.Animas Diversion Canal. <br />h. RED MESA CANAL div.erts from the Animas Diversion Canal to <br />serve lands in the La Plata, Colorado area._It is approximately 10 <br />miles long, having an initial capacity of approximately-235 c.f.s. <br />and a terminal capacity of 20 c.f.s.. .About.29 laterals and turnouts <br />will be oonst.ructed with built -in measuring devices. The diversion <br />from the Animas Diversion Canal is located at a point whence the <br />southweat corner of Section 17, Township 34 North, Range 11 West, <br />N.M.P.M., bears South 85 056, West, a distance.of 575 feet. The source <br />of water in this canal is the Animas River diverted by the Animas <br />Diversion Canal. <br />i. HA`I.GULCH RESERVOIR is formed by Hay Gulch Dam at the <br />terminus of the Animas Diversion Canal at Hay Gulch about 23.5 miles <br />west of Durango, Colorado.. The dam is a rolled earth structure and <br />the reservoir will have_a total capacity of 56,330 acre -feet of which <br />53,730 acre -feet will be active capacity. The reservoir is located <br />in portions of Sections 6 and 7, Township 34 North, Range 11 West; <br />Sections 1, 2, 3, 11, and 12, Township 34 North, Range 12 West; <br />Section 31, Township 35 North, Range 11 West, Sections 35 and 36, <br />16 -1 3.99 <br />
