Township 35 North, Range 12 West, all N.M.P.M. The initial point <br />of survey of.the_ high water line of the reservoir is located at a <br />point from whence the South 1/4 corner Section 12, Township 34 <br />North, (North of Ute line), Range 12 West, N.M.P.M., bears South <br />80 031' West, a distance of 1200 feet. The axis of Hay Hulch Dam is <br />described as follows: From Station 10&0, a point on the axis of <br />the dam, the South 1/4 corner of section 12, Township 34 North, <br />(North of U.te line), Range 12 West, N.M.P.M., bears South 86 058' <br />East, a distance of 3970 feet and from said Station 10/00 the axis <br />of the dam bears South 89 015' East. The dam will have a length of <br />about 3,800 feet and a width of 35 feet at the crest. The source <br />of supply for the reservoir is the Animas River. Animas River water <br />will be diverted at Taft Diversion Dam and transported to the <br />reservoir by the Animas Diversion Canal. A further source of water <br />for the reservoir,is La Plata River and Hay Gulch, claimed in <br />Water District No. 33. The reservoir will also serve as a regulating <br />reservoir for water stored In HowardsvIlle Reservoir which can be <br />released to-Animas River and brought to the Hay Gulch reservoir via <br />Taft Diversion Dam and Animas Diversion, Canal in the sane manner <br />as the direct flows of the Animas River. <br />J. DRY SIDE CANAL extends 14.1 miles in length from Hay Gulch <br />Reservoir to the bifurcation works for_the,Ponds an-d Ute Canals. The <br />canal has an, initial capacity of 624 c.f.s. and a terminal capacity <br />of 385 c,f.s. About 22 lateral and turnout structures will be <br />constructed with built -in measuring devices. The diversion from <br />Hay Gulch and Reservoir is located at a point from whence the <br />northeast corner of Section 3U, Township 34 North, Range 12 West, <br />N.M.P.M., bears North 79 012 East a distance of 3150 feet. The source <br />of water in this canal is the Animas River. Animas River water will <br />be diverted at Teft Diversion Dam, and using the Animas Diversion <br />Canal and other project works as a conduit, will be delivered to <br />the Dry Side Canal.
