9. Unit Cooling Water System
The unit cooling water system provides cooling water for the main pump motor air cooler
heat exchangers. The water for the unit cooling water system is supplied from the plant's
suction river side raw water supply. From the suction manifold the water goes through the
automatic, motor - operated, self - cleaning strainers which strains the water for particles
greater than 1/32 ". A total of eight individual cooling water pumps are used to supply
cooling water to the eight main pumping unit motors. The cooling water pumps are
furnished in three sizes for the various pumping units.

10. Mechanical Seal Water Supply Filtration System
The mechanical seal water supply system consists of two mechanical seal water supply
pumping units and two self - cleaning filters which supply filtered water to the mechanical
shaft seal of each main pumping unit.

11. Piping and Valves for Filling Discharge Line (s)
The designations for these valves are:
• Discharge, 16" pressure sustaining automatic valve (PSV)
• Unit 1 isolation, 16" motor - operated butterfly valve (MPE)
• Unit 2 isolation, 16" motor - operated butterfly valve (MPF)
• Durango manifold isolation, 16" motor - operated butterfly valve (MPC)
• City of Durango Manifold Isolation, 16" motor - operated butterfly valve (MPD)
TRANSFER ISSUE I STIPULATION
Butterfly valves condition I See Section 4 above. (MPC through MPF)
Background: SCADA will be modified to allow remote operation of these valves during
pumping to Lake Nighthorse or the COD's terminal reservoir. The operation of these valves
during the filling of RBIC or COD's pipe line shall be in manual operation mode only.
