Test Species
Small 0 -plus and larger 1 -plus white suckers were used as a test fish during June and August
2009, fathead minnow post -larval to adult size fish, 0 -plus bluegill, and 0 -plus largemouth bass
were used as test species during 2010 -2011 (figure 9 a - f). Fathead minnow, rainbow trout, and
white sucker already inhabit Lake Nighthorse and bluegill and largemouth bass may be
introduced into the reservoir as warmwater game fish. Rainbow trout embryos (eyed stage)
were used as surrogates for all reservoir fish embryos due to their year -round commercial
availability from Troutlodge Inc. Other fish embryos are seasonal and are typically not
commercially available.
