I � <br />Platte River') This file exists in a compressed format (.zip) on the diskette. Upon execution of <br />setup.bat, histdiv.zip is uncompressed and resides in the newly created directory c:\ncwcd as <br />histdiv.dbf. histdiv.dbf is accessed from EXCEL by executing special ODBC drivers and SQL ' <br />commands. <br />ncwcd.grp - A Microsoft Windows Group file defining the startup icon associated with chrtprog.xls. , <br />Upon completion of the following installation instructions, a new icon group corresponding to <br />the Querying and Charting Software will appear within the program manager window. Upon <br />execution of setup.bat, ncwcd.grp is copied to the directory c: \windows. , <br />pkunzip.exe - An executable file necessary to uncompress each of the compressed files. pkunzip.exe is <br />not copied to the computers hard drive. <br />setup.bat - a DOS batch file executed to create the necessary directories on the computer's hard <br />drive and to transfer appropriate files. <br />The computer system requirements necessary for proper installation and operation of the Q &CM <br />are that a minimum of 7.0 megabytes of storage be available on the c:\ drive (hard disk) and that <br />Microsoft Excel version 5.0 be installed and operable on the computer. The following <br />procedural steps must be followed in the order presented to successfully install the Querying and ' <br />Charting Software: <br />1. Exit the Microsoft Windows environment and enter the DOS environment by closing the I <br />Program Manager. <br />2. Place the diskette labeled "Querying and Charting Software" (disk 1 of 1) into the a.\ drive. <br />At the DOS prompt type a :\setup. Press return. The setup.bat batch file will then <br />uncompress and copy to the hard drive all necessary files. The execution of the setup <br />program is complete when "Operation Complete" appears on the computer screen. <br />3. Type 'win' and press return to execute and re -enter the Windows environment. <br />4. To attach the Querying and Charting Software startup icon to the Window's Program <br />Manager, select from the Program Manager's menubar <File> and then <New ... >. Select <br />< Program Group> in the New Program Object dialog box. Press <OK >. The Program <br />Group Properties dialog box will appear. In the Description edit box enter 'NCWCD'. <br />Then, in the Group File edit box enter 'c : \windows\ncwcd.grp'. Press <OK >. A new icon <br />should become visible within the Program Manager. <br />5. Start Excel (version 5.0) from the program manager. Select <Add- Ins ... > from the <Tools> <br />menubar. In the Add -Ins dialog box actuate the check box labeled ODBC Add -Ins. If the <br />ODBC Add -Ins check box does not appear as an option in the Add -Ins dialog box, press <br /><Browse ... >.
