-20-
esi;mates. Project design and administration costs were included in the opinion of probable
construction costs as a percentage of the base construction costs, with larger projects
reflecting a smaller percentage engineering fee.
Reconstruction and /or replacement of the Julesburg Reservoir Dams will have construction
costs ranging from $8 million to $23 million. Stabilization of Darn 1 only would cost in the
range of $400,000. Table 3 summarizes the probable construction costs for the enlargement
of Julesburg Reservoir project. This table also presents the reservoir storage volume gain
under each option, and the cost per acre -foot for prod ucingths storage. In terms of unit cost
of storage, Option C -3 provides the most economical project at,$1,,048 per acre -foot storage,
and also provides the most new storage at 21,900acre -feet. -:Tables 4 through 9 provide
detailed itemization of the opinion of probable construction costs for the six alternatives
presented in this report.
10.0 ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS
At the present level of study, there are many - uncertainties with respect to financial, technical,
environmental, and political issues. Due to many considerations and issues outside the scope
of this study,.we cannot make a`firm recommendation to proceed with any option. However,
we do recommend that the District and other project participants proceed with the following
actions.
10.1 Financial Feasibility
• Evaluate the writ cost for developing storage against other options available. (/
• Evaluate potential sources of financing.
• Assess ;economic feasibility, including staged implementation. - - --
2 \reports \97 -1 -500. nk
