FRYINGPAN- ARKANSAS PROJECT WATER ALLOCATIONS
MUNICIPAL & AGRICULTURAL WATER USERS
Each spring, the Board
of Directors for the South-
eastern Colorado Water
Conservancy District sends
out applications for Fry -Ark
Project water from municipal
and agricultural water users.
This begins the process of
allocating the available sup-
plemental water from the
Frying pan-Arkansas Project.
In early May of each year,
the U.S. Bureau of Reclama-
tion estimates the amount of
water available for allocation
by the Board of Directors
based on estimates of spring
runoff available for diversion
in the Project collection sys-
tem. This estimate of alloc-
able Fryingpan- Arkansas
diversions is the basis for
the Project water allocation.
The Allocation Committee
A
C
R
E
F
E
E
T
180,000
160,000
140,000
120,000
100,000
80,000
60,000
40,000
20,000
Fryingpan- Arkansas Project Water Allocations 1972 - 2004
N V (O W O N V 0 co O N d' (0 co O N 7
1-- 1 r t` co (0 m (0 OD m 01 m Q) W O O O
N m W m O) m O m m m m m W O O O
reviews the requests and based upon the Allocation Principles and
Policies makes recommendations to the Board. Beginning in 2002,
the District's water allocation
started taking on a new
trend due to the drought.
Prior to 2002 municipalities
had not requested their full
51 percent, which allowed
agricultural an allotment
above the 49 percent.
In 2004 the District allo-
cated 13,000 acre -feet of
Project water. 0
