immediate and future decision making under emergency conditions (including providing GPS, survey, <br />and technical support) to aid the State and its citizens. Activities allow the CWCB to provide technical <br />services to support recovery from flood losses, river basin and watershed planning, and financial <br />assistance for the implementation of flood reduction measures for the reduction of flood risks and <br />threats to life and property. The activities are: <br />a. Structural flood protection planning studies <br />b. Non - Structural mitigation measures <br />c. Project implementation and maintenance <br />d. Multi- Objective River and Streambank Restoration Studies <br />e. Coordination of Federal and State programs <br />E. Task 5 - Partnerships with Federal, State, and Local Entities: Participate in partnering with federal, <br />state, and local entities for the management, marketing, and administration of flood and flood related <br />programs. Participating in partnerships and agreements for the leveraging of government dollars is an <br />important role of the CWCB in brings flood protection projects to fruition. The CWCB activities <br />include: <br />a. Technical and financial assistance <br />b. Administration of federal programs on behalf of the State beneficiaries <br />c. Maximize government financial resources for Federal, state, and local flood - related programs. <br />F. Task 6 - Multi- objective Planning and Projects: Participate with partners to plan and undertake multi - <br />objective projects designed to: <br />a. Reduce flood hazards <br />b. Stabilize stream channels <br />c. Provide habitat <br />d. Reduce erosion <br />e. Increase the capacity to utilize water. <br />G. Task 7 - Statewide Outreach and Education: Each section shall perform outreach and education <br />including participating in public awareness and program advocacy activities to increase public and <br />organizational understanding of CWCB and develop opportunities for each Section to achieve their <br />goals. Activities include: <br />a. Improvement in the technical tools through special technical and scientific studies <br />b. Participating in technical and professional organizations <br />c. Conveying a better understanding of the principles of floodplain management and flood loss <br />reduction <br />d. Flood insurance programs to Colorado entities by conducting workshops. <br />H. Task 8 - Water Information: Make information accessible to CWCB's customers and the public <br />including maintaining and updating the floodplain information support system and CWCB flood web <br />site, as well as general information related to the Section, through publications, the Internet, databases, <br />and imaging documents. Activities assure that Colorado floodplain and technical information and data <br />are assessable to Colorado entities such as the engineering community and all other floodplain users. <br />Information is supplied to users on demand from the CWCB's Floodplain Information Support System <br />and CWCB website. Additional activities include: <br />a. Maintaining and updating informational systems <br />b. Designing meaningful websites <br />c. Implementing technical standards that assure the information is representative of Colorado <br />floodplains and watersheds <br />d. Maintenance of the CWCB's Floodplain Information Support System <br />I. Task 9 - Weather Modification Permitting and Projects: Regulatory and permitting responsibilities <br />as it relates to conducting weather modification in the State of Colorado. The section is required to <br />coordinate with weather modification contractors and project sponsors and monitor their activities for <br />compliance with rules and regulations and state statutes.
