Task 3 - Identify Structural and Non - Structural Plan Elements
For each reservoir site identified in the following subtasks summarize preliminary general
information regarding sizing /capacity, a description of the required system components, and
conceptual operations. A base map showing the location of the proposed facilities should be
included. Significant issues or fatal flaws (i.e., technical, legal, permitting etc.) should be
identified and documented. In addition, the option of filling surface storage sites via ground
water pumping should be considered to ensure that all favorable physical sites are evaluated.
3.1 Conduct an inventory of reservoir sites that have been identified in previous studies.
3.2 Identify potential reservoir sites not evaluated in previous studies.
3.3 Identify potential opportunities for expansion/enlargement of existing storage sites
within the study area.
3.4 Identify any necessary conveyance or pumping elements for identified surface water
storage sites.
3.5 Identify non - structural plan elements, which could be used in conjunction with or to
enhance the yield of identified reservoir sites.
A basic review of non - structural water management opportunities should be
completed. Particular attention should be given to opportunities that may be realized
if institutional/operational plans are modified for existing facilities.
3.6 Perform a field reconnaissance of each site.
3.7 Identify potential operational relationships between surface water storage plan
elements including existing facilities.
3.8 Perform a preliminary analysis of surface water storage plan elements to include the
ability to meet the Study objective and potential implementation problems.
DRAFT FINAL - September 2000
