1 administer water rights, and implement endangered species programs. The board in <br />consultation with the Unites States geological survey will develop the project scope <br />3 of work. <br />4 <br />5 (2) In addition to any other appropriation, there is hereby appropriated, out of <br />6 any moneys in the Colorado water conservation board construction fund not <br />7 otherwise appropriated, to the Colorado water conservation board for allocation to <br />8 the United States geological survey, the sum of fifty nine thousand four hundred <br />9 sixty dollars ($59,460), or so much thereof as may be necessary, for costs associated <br />1 o with the completion of the gunnison river streamflow study. <br />11 <br />12 (3) The moneys appropriated in subsection (2) of this section shall remain <br />13 available for the designated purposes until the project is completed. <br />14 <br />15 SECTION 14. Statewide Water Yields Assessment - appropriation <br />16 (1) The department of natural resources is hereby authorized to contract with a <br />17 responsible contractor for the purpose of preparing a reconnaissance level study to <br />18 assess the stream flows originating on United States forest service land in Colorado <br />19 and the impacts that past and future management practices have had, or will have, on <br />20 water yields. The study will result in a report that demonstrates the impacts of the <br />ei United States forest service current forest management practices have on water yields <br />22 from national forest lands in Colorado. <br />23 <br />24 (2) In addition to any other appropriation, there is hereby appropriated, out of <br />25 any moneys in the Colorado water conservation board construction fund not <br />26 otherwise appropriated, to the department of natural resources, the sum of one <br />27 hundred ninety thousand dollars ($190,000), or so much thereof as may be necessary, <br />28 to conduct a study of water yields resulting from forest management practices. <br />WE <br />30 (3) The moneys appropriated in subsection (2) of this section shall remain <br />31 available for the designated purposes until the project is completed. <br />32 <br />33 SECTION 15. Statewide water supply initiative - appropriation <br />34 (1) The Colorado water conservation board is hereby authorized to contract <br />35 with a responsible contractor and hire a temporary full -time employee for the <br />36 purpose of preparing a reconnaissance level study of a statewide water supply <br />37 initiative. The study will investigate all aspects of water supply and water demand in <br />38 Colorado over the next 30 years by evaluating water supply and water management <br />39 project alternatives in each river basin of the state, formulating water development <br />00 strategies for the implementation of the most promising alternatives in each basin, <br />
