SECWCD <br />February 16, 2006 <br />7 <br />RECORD OF PROCEEDING <br />WATER QUALITY REPORT: <br />Pat Edelmann gave a PowerPoint presentation entitled, Lower Arkansas River Basin Fountain <br />Creek Watershed discussing some of the following: <br />• Cooperating Agencies <br />• Some Terminology <br />• Spatial Changes in Salinity <br />• Arkansas River Basin Long -term Trends in Salinity <br />• Fountain Creek Watershed Variations in dissolved solids, ammonia, Nitrate, Selenium <br />• Sources of Fecal Coliform <br />• Fountain Creek Watershed -A Comparison of Water - Quality Conditions (Normal flows vs. <br />Storm- water) <br />• Basic Monitoring Program <br />• Storm -water Monitoring Program <br />COMMITTEE MEETING DATES: <br />Mr. Broderick said this agenda item will be on the agenda monthly, for committee chairmen to <br />schedule meetings for their committee's to meet. <br />WATER CONSERVATION AND MANAGEMENT PLAN REPORT: <br />Jean Van Pelt said she would like to introduce to the Board and the visitors a new component to the <br />District's Water Conservation Program, the SECO Water Wise Web site. SECO is an abbreviation <br />for Southeastern Colorado. You can access the Web site through a link on the District's home page <br />or by typing in www.secowaterwise.org. <br />The District has nurtured an important partnership with CSU Arkansas Valley Research Center <br />(AVRC). The AVRC has an outstanding reputation in the basin as a leader in local agriculture <br />research. Dr. Mike Bartolo, manager of the Research Center has been very helpful in the <br />development of this program. He is well - admired by the agriculture community and a wonderful <br />resource for the valley. <br />Mrs. Van Pelt also thanked the Bureau of Reclamation for funding this project through a matching <br />grant. Reclamation's continued support for the District's conservation program is greatly <br />appreciated. <br />Mrs. Van Pelt said the secowaterwise website is the first of its kind in our region and it provides up <br />to minute weather information, research and resources about efficient agricultural water <br />management practices and technology as well as practical guidance about their implementation. <br />Formerly, this type of information was only accessible by logging onto multiple Web sites, for easy <br />access this same information has been complied into one site.
