r <br />Mancos Project <br />Location: West Mancos River (tributary to San Juan <br />River below Navajo Dam) <br />Completed: 1948 <br />Features: Jackson Gulch Dam and Reservoir <br />Inlet and Outlet Canals (off- stream <br />reservoir) <br />Consultation History: No Section 7 consultation <br />Purposes: Irrigation <br />* 13,746 acres of supplemental service <br />* annual depletion of 16,200 acre -feet <br />(total of irrigation and M &I use) <br />Municipal and Industrial <br />• Town of Mancos <br />• Mancos Rural Water Company - new <br />contracts being considered <br />* Mesa Verde National Park <br />Recreation and Fish and Wildlife <br />* reservoir -based facilities managed by <br />Colorado Division of Parks and Outdoor <br />Recreation <br />Power <br />* None presently, however non - Federal <br />development being considered <br />Water Rights: United States just recently transferred <br />the ownership of the project water rights to the District. <br />Article 3 of the transfer agreement provides that "the District <br />agrees that upon the request of the United States at any time in <br />the future it will reassign its interest in the water rights to <br />the United States . . ." Article 16 of the District's repayment <br />contract provides the District "the perpetual right to the use of <br />all water that becomes available through the construction and <br />operation of Project Works ." <br />
