12/09/94 14:05 $303 249 2857 CO DIV. WILDLIFE 0002
I Dlvis9onW Cwespandwm Only
STATE OF COLORAOO
DIVISION OF WILDLIFE
pEPAmhew OF NATURAL RESOURCES
DATE: December 9, 1994
To: Eddie Kochman
FROM: David Langlois
SUBJECT: Agenda to be added 12113
I understand the first item on the agenda for the December 13 meeting is the approval
of the agenda. Please consider adding the following item to the agenda: Improved
communication and team norms. I would like to share my ideas and elicit the
group's perspectives about the type of communication styles that we use and how it
influences our performance. It seems to me there is room for improvement. The
current situation is' Verbal attacks are the norm when conflicting ideas are presented."
This is as much a part of the cost of doing business as the water and phone bills are.
Another way of expressing the idea would be:
Actual Group Performance = Potential Performance - Faulty Group Process
I am just an amateur on this sort of thing. However, 1 would like a chance to play a
small role on the team in this way. I believe you can agree that last week's debate over
meeting attendance shows we have an interest in this topic. Perhaps we could suggest
an idea or two regarding communication that would allow us to function at a higher
level. By the 13th I think I could have a 10 minute presentation prepared. Perhaps an
additional 20 minutes for group review would be appropriate. Would you please send
this to those you think may attend to allow them to prepare their thoughts and ideas?
Thanks.
c. Peter Evans
Bob cowry
