I EF
STATE OF COLORADO
EXECUTIVE CHAMBERS &cot°
136 State Capitol ' $
Denver,Colorado 80203
Phone(303)839-2471 ,G,I *
*/876
Richard D.Lamm,
Governor
MEMORANDUM
TO: All Departmental Directors
FROM: Governor Richard D. Lamm
RE: Colorado Drought Response Plan
DATE: May 26, 1981
In my memorandum of February 5, 1981, I directed the development of a
data collection and assessment system, and an emergency response plan
for potential drought conditions in Colorado. This project has been
completed as scheduled. I have approved the Colorado Drought Response
Plan to specify the tasks, special organizational arrangements, and
operational methods of State government under drought conditions.
Since this Drought Response Plan is consistent with, and an evolutionary
element of, the Colorado Natural Disaster Emergency Operations Plan, you
should consider it an integral part of the broader document. Also, I
ask that now and upon future activations of the Plan. . .
1) The Division of Disaster Emergency Services (DODES)
ensure that the Plan is adapted as necessary to the
existing structure of State government and the
response requirements of a drought emergency.
2) Each State department or agency tasked in the Plan
take those actions necessary to carry out its
responsibilities.
3) All other State departments or agencies not charged
specifically in the Plan offer appropriate support.
I recognize that the extra burden of coping with our current drought
threat still exists, and that even greater effort beyond the normal
may still be necessary this year. I appreciate and commend the
priority attention you have devoted to this project over the past
few months.
