In 1954 a total of 250 acre-feet of water was diverted through the
Supply Ditch with an additiona1743 acre-feet provided from Beaver Park Reservoir.
In 2003 a total of 633 acre-feet of water was diverted through the Supply Ditch with an additional
300 acre-feet provided from Beaver Park Reservoir. The River yield was higher than in 1954 but
the yield from Beaver Park reservoir was less than in 1954.
For an average year, during the period of study by RMC, the average diversion was 5129
acre-feet from the Supply and 1305 acre-feet from Beaver Park Reservoir. An analysis of
consumptive use provided in the above stated report is shown in the following table.
'
'

'
TABLE 2
IRRIGATION DEMAND
CROP TYPE WATER DEMAND NO. In
the dry years of 1954 and 1955, the SIDC could have stored water it diverted in October and
November which amounted to a total of 880 acre-feet of water.
' The SIDC also has a need for an equalizer on the ditch to allow for more efficient management
of the water diverted. At the present time they have to balance the diversions with the demand
' or lose a portion of the diverted flow. Their only option at the present time, if there is an excess
of water in the system, is to divert water into Divide Reservoir which is not owned by the SIDC.
The Brand Company also intends to develop the property around the reservoir and intend to store
approximately 200 acre-feet of water they own in the reservoir for recreational and aesthetic
purposes.
'
1 Knoth Reservoir-Feasibility Study Page 5
