IIVOORWaI`t:-C
WCC performed investigations to establish design criteria to remediate seepage in the
area of the existing outlet works and to increase the size of the spillway to accommodate
75 percent of the Probable Maximum Flood. The fast track project required the field
investigation, feasibility study, design, review, and construction to be completed in six
months. WCC assisted the Windsor Reservoir and Canal Company in obtaining
financing for the project from the Colorado Water Conservatian Boazd. WCC also
provided cost estimates for the rehabilita.tion of the spillway and embanlcment and
provided construction observation and management services during the rehabilitation of
the dam and spillway.
Kemmerer City Dam, Wyoming - A landslide threatened the access road to a major
regionai recreational area surrounding the lake. In conjunction with design and
construction of other impravements to the d landslide was stabilized by unloading
the crest, constructing drains under t edirect groundwater, and improving
surface drainage. WCC provided se mcludin ' tigation; preparation of designs,
specifica.tions and cost estima c t e ering.
Grand River interceptor Ditch, Colorado - This interceptor ditch in Rocky Mountain
National Pazk diverts water to the east slope for irrigation. The ditch is about 100 years
old and pre-dates the National Pazk. In late spring of 1992 a laadslide occurred along
a portioa of this ditch blocking access to upstream portions of the projec A geologic
reconnaissance coacluded that the landslide was largely confined to overburden soils
which averlie a steep bedrock surface. Recommendations were made relative to
stabilizing the slide and to retard slide debris from continuously ravelling down onto the
maintenance road.
Telluride Airport, Colorado - WCC investigated the fa.ilure mechanism and the cause of
failure for the landslide which took out a portion of the runway fill, closed the state
highway to Telluride, and buried a sand and graveI plant in the river valley bottom. Air
travel to the town was restricted until the slide azea was stabilized.
Hourglass Reservoir, Larimer Count, Colorado - WCC conducted a feasibility level
geotechnical study for rehabilitating the city of Greeley's Haurglass Dam. A field
reconnaissance was made of the condition of the embankment and local geologic
wooawand-chrde consuaMs
233601PR0_3 12-08-93(8:53Na)IRPT 3-%
