.. -
Woodward-CI
Our investigations indica.ted that the major portion of the dam would have to be rebuilt.
We provided continuous construction inspection and materials testing services during
dam reconstruction. Construction was completed in 1989.
Long Pond Dam, Fort Collins, Colorado - WCC conducted a hydrolagy study and
prepared plans, specifications, and cost estunates for rehabilitation of this earthill
irrigation supply dam. Fast-track specification prepazation and construction enabled dam
rehabilitation to be completed in time for the next irrigation season. WCC also provided
construction observation and management services for the rehabilitation of the dam.
Worster Dam, near Fort Cotlins, Colorado - Worster Dam was constructed near the turn
af tbe century and consists af an earth embankment with a concrete upstream facing.
The dam is approximately 8U feet i t rest length of approximately 700 feet.
WCC was retained by the owne the condidons of the existing outlet
structure, the stability of the d t s page exiting the downstream face
of
the dam. WCC assisted th r asibility study and preparing a
feasibility report which was submitted to the Colorado Water Coaservation Board to
procure fina.ncing for the project. WCC is currently preparing design plans and
specifications for rehabilitatian of the dam and outlet works and in 1994 will serve as the
owner's engineer and construction manager during the construction phase of this project.
McKenzie-Wildcat Ditch, Colorado - This ditch intercepts and conveys water for
agriculture in the mountains of central Colorado. A portion of the ditch crossing one
af the state's largest slci azeas was destroyed by a landslide in the spring of 1987. WCC
investigated the mechanism of the slide, designed a buttress reinforced with synthetic
geogrid materials to restore operation of the ditch, and has performed long term
monitoring of instrurnentation to detect further movements. Measured movement since
completion of the repairs has been very small.
Douglas Dam, near Fort Collins, Colorado - In 1990, WCC assisted the owner in an
emergency release of water and subsequent safety evaluation of this 39-foot-high
embankment dam, after the owner observed seepage on the downstream slope. A seep
approximately 50 feet tong and 4 feet high with a flow rate of approximately 15 gpm had
developed'in the area above the outlet structure.
Woodward-Clyde Consultarts
23360JPR0.3 12-Oa-93(s:53am)1RPT 3-6
