POPULATION AND RESIDENTIAL GROWTH
In the past few years, there has been a marked increase in population
throughout the entire Greeley area. The bulk of this increase, however, has
been concentrated in Southwest Greeley. For example, in 1957 the active
subdivisions west of 23rd Avenue were Belair Park, Brentwood Park, Hunter
Heights, Mountain View Subdivision, Houston Heights, and one block of Westview
Subdivision. By actual count, there were 468 residences in all of these sub-
divisions or an equivalent population of 1,638 people.
At the present time, Westview Subdivision has been greatly expanded;
Westwood and Wilshire have been nearly completed, and the following subdivi-
sions are well underway: Panorama Park, Sherwood Park, McArthur - Wheeler
Subdivision, Meadowlark, Broadview Acres, Highland Acres, and Ward's Sub-
division. By actual count in 1960, there are now 1,010 residences in the area
west of 23rd Avenue, or an equivalent population of 3,535. This is an
increase of 1,897 persons in a three -year period. In addition there is every
indication that Greeley's residential growth will continue in its trend south
and west following closely the drainage basins under study here.
- 4 -
