- 4 - <br />primary purpose of the project is for flood prevention for agricultural <br />and urban land and associated land treatment work. the work plan <br />provided for a three -year installation period. ALtho:�ized April 1, <br />1969. Construction was completed March.21, 1972 and project completed <br />June 30, 1972. One structu -e C -1 and one floodway C1F and extension <br />were deleted by sponsor request and agreement. Estimated construction <br />cost for 2 floodwater retarding structures, C -3 and C4 and floodway <br />C -4 is $611,600 ($22,030 local cost and $589,570 PL 566 cost). Land <br />treatment measures to be applied were estimated at $30,1 1 0 ($28,970 <br />local cost and $1',200 PL 566 cost). Final completion report will be <br />prepared early in 1973. <br />Authorized Watershed Projects not Completed (Public L 566 <br />Home Supply Watershed Project (Larimer and Weld Counties) - An Agricultural <br />Water Management Project consisting of land treatment measures and <br />structural measures for the rehabilitation of the canal system and <br />a 5,100 acre -foot reservoir for supplemental irrigation storage which <br />has been completed. Estimated project cost is $2,092 ($1,195,500 <br />PL 566 and $897,000 local costs). Project area is 43,140 acres. <br />Sponsors are the Big Thompson Soil Conservation District, the <br />Consolidated Home Supply Ditch and Reservoir Company, the Handy <br />Ditch Company and the Colorado State Soil Conservation Board. One <br />contract for canal lining remains to be let this winter. This will <br />complete the project as presently provided for in the work plan. <br />However, sponsors desire to supplement the work plan to add the <br />remainder of.the Handy Ditch system to the project. A review draft <br />of the supplement is scheduled for completion in March, 1973. <br />Pine River Watershed (Archuleta and La Plata Counties) - This project consists <br />of land treatment measures and flood prevention and canal structures <br />for the protection of the project irrigated lands and for the rehabi- <br />litation of the canal system.. Estimated project cost is $1,150,965 <br />($625,965 PL 566 and $575,000 other costs). Project area is 57,730 <br />acres. The project is sponsored by the Pine River Soil Conservation <br />District and the Pine River Canal Company. Construction is complete. <br />Project close -out is scheduled for December 1, 1972. The final <br />completion report will be prepared about January, 1974. <br />Crooked Arroyo Project (Otero County) - Project area is 71,936 acres. <br />Sponsors are the East Otero and Timpas Soil Conservation Districts <br />and Otero County Board of Commissioners. The Crooked Arroyo conser- <br />vancy was formed to provide project land rights and the Colorado <br />State Soil Conservation Board have joined as sponsors. This is a <br />flood prevention project consisting of land treatment and structural <br />measures, consisting of four floodwater retarding structures to <br />reduce floodwater and. sediment damages to irrigated lands and canal <br />systems, roads, bridges and railroads and to residential and commercial <br />
