- 3 - <br />Roateap Wash Watershed Project (PL 566, Montrose County) - This project <br />includes one retardation structure that is completed. Final cost <br />$227,885 (local cost $LE5,747). The project is sponsored by the <br />Shavano Soil Conservation District and the Uncompahgre Valley <br />Water Users Association. Watershed area is 10,642 acres. <br />Franktown- Parker Tributaries of Cherry Creek Watershed (PL 566, Douglas, <br />El Paso and Elbert Counties) - This project area is 176,640 acres. <br />It is sponsored by the Cherry Creek Soil Conservation District, the <br />Boards of County Commissioners of Douglas and El Paso Counties and <br />the State Soil Conservation Board. Land treatment measures and <br />structural measures provide floodwater and sediment damage reductions <br />to floodplain lands and to state and county road systems. Structures <br />include 16 floodwater- retarding structures and one floodwater diver- <br />sion. The cost of the project was $1,384,034 of which $904,894 is <br />PL 566 costs and $479,140 other costs. <br />Indian Wash Watershed Project (PL 566, Mesa County) - Project area is 9,640 <br />acres. Floodwater and sediment damages will be reduced to: flood - <br />plain irrigated lands and canals; county, state and federal roads; <br />the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad; and to suburban and urban building <br />and property in Mesa County and the City of Grand Junction. Land <br />treatment measures were installed by the Bureau of Land Management <br />on public lands,of the watershed and by owners of the private lands. <br />Structural measures consist of one large floodwater- retarding structure. <br />The cost of the project was $532,914 of which the other costs were <br />$112,411. The project is sponsored by the Upper Grand Valley Soil <br />Conservation District, Mesa County and the City of Grand Junction. <br />Louden Watershed Project (PL 566, Larimer County) - .Project consists of land <br />treatment and structural measures for rehabilitation of the main canal <br />system and associated lateral systems. Final project costs, as amended, <br />are $1,152,615 ($796,266 other costs and $356,349 PL 566 costs). The <br />project, as amended, was sponsored by the Big Thompson and Fort Collins <br />Soil Conservation Districts, Louden Irrigating Canal and Reservoir <br />Company, Louden Extension Canal and Reservoir Company and the Colorado <br />Soil Conservation Board. The project was authorized June 16, 1966 <br />with construction starting November 10, 1966. Structures (63) <br />planned for one of the participating laterals systems, the Big Lateral <br />Ditch Company, were deleted by agreement because of losses of land <br />to urban development. Construction was completed October 1970 and <br />project completion reported June 30, 1971. Construction costs for <br />canal system rehabilitation are $479,69.4 ($153,366 other costs and <br />$326,328 PL 566 cost). <br />Canon Watershed Project (P1 566, Fremont County) - This project embraces <br />12,138 acres. Sponsors, as amended, are the Fremont Soil Conservation <br />District, Fremont County Flood Conservancy District, Board of Commissioners <br />of Fremont County and the Colorado Soil Conservation Boards.
