- 5 - <br />properties west of La Junta, Colorado. Estimated cost of the project <br />is $1,891,990 ($1,169,400 PL 566 and $721,600 other costs) with a <br />five year installation period. Approved October 9, 1970. Construction <br />started June, 1972. Two of the four planned floodwater retarding <br />structures are nearing completion of construction. Construction <br />funds for the remaining structures are scheduled to be obligated in <br />this fiscal year. <br />Authorized Watershed Projects Not in Construction (Public-Law 566) <br />Vineland Watershed Project (Pueblo County) - Project area is 11,110 acres. <br />It is sponsored by the Bessemer and Pueblo Soil Conservation Districts. <br />The Vineland Flood Conservancy District was formed to provide project <br />land rights and the Colorado State Soil Conservation Board has <br />recently joined as co- sponsors.. The plan provides a program of land <br />treatment and structural measures, consisting of four floodwater- <br />retarding structures, one canal flood regulating and wasteway structure <br />and two floodway channels, to protect valuable irrigated farmlands, <br />community of Vineland and state and county roads from floodwater, <br />sediment and erosion damages. The estimated cost of the project is <br />$654,807 ($410,765 PL 566 and $244,042 other costs). Easement <br />problems.have prevented starting construction on this project. <br />Suspended 1968. <br />The attached tabulation summarizes project installed costs as completed and <br />as estimated. <br />
