• too <br />respectively. Much of this work was done with Company personnel and <br />equipment and about $44,000 was drawn from the authorized loan of the <br />Bank for Cooperatives. Forty cents per share was assessed to repay <br />this loan. <br />In 1967 an agreement was negotiated with the Colorado Game, fish <br />and Parks Commission for a lease of the two storage reservoirs amounting <br />to $65,000. The loan with the Bank for Cooperatives was liquidated and <br />` the Company was free of debts.- <br />The system deteriorated during these years of reorganization. Since <br />the organization of the Trinchera Irrigation Company all available .funds <br />have been used to replace deteriorated structures, to obtain additional <br />water rights, and to realign and line supply canals. <br />The Coffee Flume, below Smith Reservoir, collapsed in April 1969. <br />It was replaced in December with an inverted siphon costing about 6 )25,000. <br />About 3.5 miles of the Trinchera Canal, which had a high seepage loss, <br />was realigned and lined with concrete in 1969 costing about $40,000. <br />Although these replacements and improvements have kept the system <br />in operation there is a large portion of the existing canals and laterals <br />which are in need of immediate improvement. <br />Drainage <br />There are no known drainage problems within the watershed. <br />NON- AGRICULTURAL WATER MANAGEMENT <br />The Parsons and Whittemore Company may locate a new paper mill 3 <br />miles west of Blanca. Water for the mill will be provided by wells. <br />Adequate domestic water is provided by wells for farmsteads and the two <br />towns in the watershed. <br />L 0 C A L I N T E R E S T I N P R O J E C T D E V E L O P M E N T <br />This potential watershed project is served by the Mount Blanca Soil <br />Conservation District. The Company stockholders are aware of their pro- <br />blems and have asked for financial assistance through the Four Corners <br />Economic Development Region, the San Luis Valley RC6D; and REAP. <br />W 0 R K S 0 ?'
