Town of Vail - Town Council - Town Council Highlights - Archive - March 28, 2000 Page 4 of 6 <br />Announcements included: the annual Town of Vail Employee Appreciati <br />Breakfast will be held from 7 to 8:30 a.m. on April 6 at Seasons at the <br />Green; dinner with the Avon Town Council is scheduled for March 30; a <br />a meeting has been scheduled for 5 p.m. May 9 in the Vail Town Counci <br />Chambers for the Open Space Board of Trustees to determine if additio <br />properties should be recommended to the Town Council for designated <br />open space status. Also yesterday, Councilmembers agreed to award a <br />bid for construction of the Buffehr Creek Park expansion to B &B <br />Excavating, the lower bidder at $247,133.96. Construction will start in <br />May. <br />Next, Russell Forrest, Community Development director, received <br />approval from the Town Council to adjust the public meeting schedule fo <br />the community facility "Hub" site discussions. By postponing a series of <br />upcoming meetings, the additional time will be used to address <br />programming, operational and financial considerations, he said. Those <br />meetings, one of which was scheduled to occur March 30, will resume in <br />late May or early June. For more information, contact Forrest at 479 -214 <br />or see news release issued March 29. <br />Tom Moorhead provided an update on correspondence between Charle <br />Lipcon (through attorney John Dunn) and the town regarding Lipcon's <br />allegations of conflict of interest by Councilman Greg Moffet. The <br />complaint will be heard by the Council at its April 4 work session. Also <br />yesterday, the Council voted 5 -0 ( Moffet did not vote) to request <br />paperwork and other related materials to be presented by John Dunn, b <br />distributed to the Town Council no later than Friday (3 -31). <br />-- Council Reports <br />Kevin Foley, who serves on the Eagle County Regional Transportation <br />Authority on behalf of the town, announced the recent resignation of Jim <br />Shrum, the agency's director. Foley also inquired about the status of the <br />town's request to Eagle County to provide information about the benefits <br />Vail residents receive from county tax collections. <br />Sybill Navas reported on a recent meeting of the Northwest Colorado <br />Council of Governments. She asked for feedback on what services the <br />agency might provide for Vail within the next year. Also, Navas reported <br />on a recent development with the Vail Valley Exchange in which the <br />organization (through Sister Cities International) has lost its ability to iss <br />J -1 training visas. Navas says the organization must now wrestle with its <br />mission and purpose. <br />Greg Moffet said he would be attending a joint meeting between the Vail <br />Valley Tourism and Convention Bureau and the Chamber of Commerce <br />later in the week.
