'Town of Vail - Town Council - Town Council highlights - Archive - March 28, 2000 Page 5 of 6
based events calendar to be placed on the Web site.
Chuck Ogilby amused his fellow councilmembers by displaying a singin
trout plaque he'd received at a recent water meeting.
Bob McLaurin provided an update on three managed growth initiatives
that may be considered for a statewide ballot referendum. The initiatives
are being monitored by the Colorado Association of Ski Towns (CAST)
and the Colorado Municipal League.
Ludwig Kurz reported on a recent Channel 5 board meeting and asked f
programming feedback from the Council.
N
- -Other
Diana Donovan inquired about a letter of complaint from a guest who
objected to the high cost of a condominium unit. She also noted several
articles of interest on the topics of Internet sales, the Village at Avon
development and end -of- season deals at Beaver Creek Resort. In
addition, Donovan inquired about the process by which the Town Counc
is informed of lawsuits filed against the town.
Chuck Ogilby inquired about a letter from a Lionshead property owner w
questions about the Lionshead master plan. He also shared a
conversation he and fellow Councilmember Diana Donovan had recently
about the use of the Real Estate Transfer Tax funds as well as the
community facilities plan for Donovan Park. Ogilby described a three -poi
action plan proposed by Donovan that would: 1) designate the upper an
middle benches of Donovan Park and possibly a connecting parcel as
open space; 2) acquire the balance of open space parcels that are
currently in a five -year plan; and 3) change the use of the Real Estate
Transfer Tax funds - -by ordinance - -that would clarify Council's intent to u
RETT funds for the construction of recreational facilities on the lower
bench of Donovan Park. Ogilby encouraged the remaining
Councilmembers to consider the merits of the proposal.
Also, Ogilby inquired about the status of the town's 770 Potato Patch
employee housing unit following the recent defeat of an ordinance that
was to have been used to lay the groundwork to sell the unit due to its
high condominium association fees. Town Manager Bob McLaurin
indicated the unit has been leased to a Town of Vail police officer for the
next year.
Kevin Foley thanked Russell Forrest for scheduling the meeting with the
Open Space Board of Trustees on May 9. He also commented on three
letters he had received which were complimentary towards the town and
its services.
http: / /www.ci.vail.co.us /town council/highlights /archive /2000/000328.htm 01/30/2002
