costs, assuming that the benefits would be equal
or equivalent at the two sites. I can see from
the discussion that probably what you want is an
addendum or an expansion of this site selection
report to cover some of the hydrology features
and that is going to take us a little time. Just
how much time I'm not prepared to state at this
time.
There is one thing I wish you could conclude
out of this site selection report and that is
whether we should continue to consider the con-
trol of Bijou Creek at Hoyt. At least we might
get one thing out of the woods."
MR. GILDERSLEEVE: "Well, Joe, it seems to me that there have
been two major questions which have been asked
this morning by the members of the steering com-
mittee. One has to do with the exchange possi-
bilities at Narrows and Weld County and the other
has to do with the service possibilities as be-
tween the two reservoirs. Now I'm sure, with
respect to the first, that the Bureau would con-
sult with people like Mr. Osborne and other members
of the committee and the people in the State Engi-
neer's office who have run the river for a number
of years. I don't think it would take very long
to determine whether there are exchange possi-
bilities of any great extent without an upstream
reservoir such as Two Forks. That would be one
thing that would be settled. I don't think it
would take too long with the help of the members
of the committee to find out which areas need
water, which ditches need water and which ones
would be likely to ask for it.
Now those two things, I think, would help
very much in clearing up the thoughts of some of
the members of the steering committee. I can't
conceive that those studies wouldn't have to be
made in any event and why they would extend the
time limit so much on your report."
MR. BARRETT: "We've been working for a little over six
months just trying to get a picture of what is
going on, on the South Platte River and we
haven't got that clarified yet. There is a
-41-
