Those are the things that come up. I just
wanted to bring those things out on the table and
whatever kind of help that this committee can give
us, any instructions they can give us, as to what
kind of an investigation they want us to carry
forth, will be extremely helpful. I think that
none of us, the three representatives from the
Bureau here this morning, have given any indica-
tion that we are set in our ways about the pick
of any sites off of this report. The report is
there and it's to be evaluated."
MR. STAPLETON: "Jim, let me ask you this, if I get the sense
of the meeting the people here, the steering com-
mittee, are not willing to accept the Narrows
site because they don't know, first of all,
whether the exchange will work. That's at least
my idea. Now what can be done about working and
firming up the exchange? That can either alleviate
or confirm the fears of the people who object to
the Narrows site for that reason."
MR. I believe I'm right
in this, this was done while I was gone, but I
believe he said we will not go up the tributaries,
we'll consider only the main stem and we'll con-
sider only the Two Forks. He attempted to cut
some of the whiskers off of this so that we could
begin to get into the thicket far enough to tell
what we had. But now, today, we have broadened out
and gone away from that and we've got the entire
thicket. Whatever short cuts or whatever specifi-
cations you want to hand us, we can work on those
if we can eliminate. If you don't eliminate, I'm
sure that you all see that it's a long, long
process. I'm not saying it's impossible but it
certainly takes a lot of time and a lot of money."
MR. D. MILLER: "Jim, let me put it this way, that I'm called
upon to decide whether to go for this thing or
CERE
