t a
of Engineers that they would have their full coop-
eration. He also thanked the state for their
active interest in the activities. Harold Davis
prepared a report for that meeting. That's all I
have on this statement I have here.
Joe Barrett discussed the effect of ground
water flows and effect of pumping which must be
studied in detail and also the problem of ground
water recharge.
There was one question that came up and that
was the problem of the Burlington ditch losing the
Denver sewage water for irrigation by the movement
of the metropolitan sewage plant downstream to the
mouth of Clear Creek. Those things need to be
evaluated.
The evaluation and merits of the Weld County
and Narrows sites and the control of Bijou bene-
fits indicated there were not enough to provide
flood control for the Bijou Creek in the Narrows
site. He said that even the channel from Bijou
Creek to the Narrows Reservoir was not justified.
'Glenn Saunders asked a question whether
flood protection for the Englewood area on the
South Platte was to be included in the plan, the
basin -wide study. Russell Wiethop, Corps of
Engineers, stated that the Corps' plan at the
present time had not included that but he knew
that they would include all the areas that were
problem areas in the Basin study for flood con-
trol.
Mr. Sparks, at that time, stated that they
expected the Missouri Basin Power Fund to parti-
cipate in the cost of the construction of this
project. He explained that the amount of parti-
cipation would be the monies in excess of the
ability of the farmers to repay for the irriga-
tion portion of the project.
The way I have my notes here, I don't think
I have a whole lot to offer, gentlemen. I'd
rather, after this meeting, rewrite this and pre-
pare it as a written statement rather than prepare
-2-
