SOUTH PLATTE STEERING COMMITTEE MEETING <br />Rm. 11, State Services Building <br />Denver 3, Colorado <br />October 6, 1961 <br />The meeting was called to order at 10:10 A. M. by Mr. Ben- <br />jamin F. Stapleton, Jr., Vice - Chairman of the Colorado Water Con- <br />servation Board. <br />MR. STAPLETON: "Gentlemen, as you all know, Larry Sparks is <br />now officially on military duty and it is my <br />recollection that Larry was Chairman of this <br />steering committee and if there are no objections <br />from any of you, I'd lake to see if Mr. Gilder- <br />sleeve can't continue as acting chairman until <br />Larry comes back from military service and con- <br />tinues the liaison. Is there any objection to <br />that from anybody? Gil, it's yours." <br />MR. GILDERSLEEVE: "I wasn't at the meeting on July 6th and as <br />far as I know, no minutes of the meeting have <br />been prepared. Mr. Dave Miller and Mr. Stan <br />Miller, as I understand it, have kept notes and <br />if it is the wish of the steering committee we <br />will try to prepare a set of minutes of the <br />original meeting, unless the committee feels <br />that this is not necessary at this time." <br />MR. STAPLETON: "Maybe somebody can give us a review of those <br />minutes just to bring some of us who weren't there <br />up to date." <br />MR. GILDERSLEEVE: "Can you do that from your notes, Stan ?" <br />MR. STAPLETON: "Just a summary, I think, just so we'll have <br />some idea." <br />MR.. S. MILLER: "The minutes I have here weren't prepared for <br />reading. The Bureau of Reclamation programmed <br />federal funds in the amount of $250,000 to <br />$300,000 for the South Platte studies. That <br />doesn't include your state funds. Mr. Sparks <br />presented a background description of the Narrows <br />studies and work to date. He was followed by Jim <br />Ogilvie who said they were assured by the Corps <br />
