STERLING CHAMBER OF COMMERCE <br />STERLING, COLORADO <br />R E S 0 L U .T I O N <br />WHEREAS, it is recognized that the economy of the State of <br />Colorado is largely dependent on the beneficial application of water to <br />the lands of the state and it is further recognized that there is a need <br />for flood control on the South Platte river, and <br />WHEREAS, the construction of the proposed Narrows dam would <br />be of great and lasting benefit, in particular to the entire South Platte <br />River basin area and in general to the economy of the State of Colorado, <br />and <br />NHEREAS, the construction of the proposed Narrows dam would <br />enable the State of Colorado to comply strictly with the Colorado River <br />Compact, provide for flood control, provide supplemental water to <br />presently irrigated lands, additional water for present dry lands, and <br />other incidental benefits, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by this meeting assembled under <br />the sponsorship of the Sterling Chamber of Commerce that we endorse the <br />construction of the proposed Narrows dam for the reasons above stated and <br />urge that funds be provided for the construction of the Narrows dam by <br />the Congress of the United States, and be it further resolved that copies <br />of this resolution be sent to the Colorado Conservation outer Board, <br />United States Representative William S. Hill, and United States Senators, <br />Edwin C. Johnson and Eugene D. Millikin. <br />The above Resolution was adopted at a public meeting held <br />April 30, 192, in the Municipal Auditorium, Sterling, Colorado, <br />sponsored by the Sterling Chamber of Commerce. <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />/s/ E.
