Ve
RESOLUTION
BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners of Larimer County,
Colorado, oppose the construction of the Narrows Dam in Morgan County
as contemplated by the United States Bureau of Reclamatioh. Particularly
do we oppose the construction during times when the moneys and efforts
of the Government should be directed toward the emergencies created by the
international situation which now confronts us. No possible reason exists
to presently consider the construction of the proposed dam. In the opinion
of this Board, the expenditure of the funds for the construction of the dam
would merely be one more example of the waste of federal funds which could
be put to better use elsewhere. Any possible benefit from the construction
of the dam would be more than offset through the loss of an area taken and
used in the construction of the dam.
BE IT FUR'"'ER RESOLVED that copies of this Resolution be seat to all re-
presentatives of Colorado in Congress, and to Governor Dan Thornton, and
to the Colorado Water Conservancy Board in Denver, Colorado, and to the
Bureau of Reclamation at Denver.. Colorado, and in Washington, D.C.
We urge you to take note of this action with the conviction that we, as
Americans, mus'c get back to sane, reasonable practices within the limits of
our capacity.
Very truly yours,
(S) A.
