Gary Hausler said that he is involved in a development north of Gunnison which
has two commercial wells which pump 100 gallons per minute. He said that the
wells were permitted by state before the Gunnison River was deemed over -
appropriated and no augmentation plan was required. One well was put to
beneficial use in 1965 and the other one last year. He said that his
understanding is that the board will not call its RICD right when the Gunnison
Tunnel or Redlands is calling. He asked for confirmation of that understanding
and asked if the board would call that right, possibly causing interruption of
domestic water use. The motion carried.
Ken Spann left the meeting.
Bob Drexel arrived at the meeting.
Board President Greg Peterson reconvened the regular session and said that the
board will reconvene the executive session at the end of meeting, but that he
does not anticipate any action being taken.
The board took no action as a result of the executive session.
Ken Spann came back to the meeting.
Cindy Covell said that the board discussed whether there would be operating
criteria they would impose upon themselves with regard to the Whitewater Park.
She said that the board would be willing to not place a call when either the
Gunnison Tunnel or the Redlands Canal is calling. At other times when there is
a possibility that the RICD right would place a call, the board intends to exercise
its rights with due regard to all the various needs of its constituency.
Gib Marchand said that a proposed stipulation between Gerald E. Bullock, et al.
(the West Branch homeowners) and the District has been agreed to by that
Page 2 of 6
