I'm looking for some class II
with occasional III sections within day -trip distance. I've been reading the bible and it
looks like the Lake Fork of the Gunny, portions of the Taylor, possibly some of the
Ceballo (SP), depending on access. Probably portions of the Gunny depending on
flows. Any leads and /or betas would be wonderful.
FYI: been boating the Laramie and watching it rise since April. (Above Woods
Landing) Its a movin' kick right now. Been kayaking and canoeing. Seen several
rafts too. Sure nice to see it flowing again! It's a great after work run if any of you
are in this area.
gosgood 01 Posted: May 29 2003, 09:49
For great class 1 -3 boating:
Any section of the Gunnison from Almont to the lake would be great. The best part
being from North Bridge (1 mile North of Gunnison on Hwy 135) to Riverway (aka,
McCabe's Lane. 3 -4 miles west of Gunnison). Also great park and ride area on the
west side of town near the "twin bridges." About a half mile fron the water park is a
large drop (Psycadelic Falls) that has caused many problems for kayakers and rafters
this season. Walk around it or paddle hard.
Lake Fork of the Gunnison. Very fun and very chalenging this time of year. Upper
section (the "gate" to red bridge) is class 2 to 3 minus. Big hole under a small bridge
and lots of man made, river wide pour overs. This is mostly private property so be
respectful! The lower section (Red Bridge to Gateview) can be very technical and
http: / /mountainbuzz.comlcgi- bin /forumslikonboard.cgi ?s =3 fDb22cd0l 28ffff ;act= ST;f= 9;t =3... 7/8/2003
