Task 505 - Develop and Screen Alternative Source List
Develop a list of potential alternative sources of water with input from the Conduit participants.
Alternatives will be screened to insure they pass criteria that apply to Project water and
operations. Develop a list of alternatives to be further evaluated. This is important for future
growth and water sources for participants in the Conduit.
Deliverables will include a complete technical report detailing the evaluations of operations,
exchange potential, and water sources, including final recommendations. The findings from the
investigations described above will assist the Conduit Participants in evaluating potential
additional supply alternatives.
These tasks and deliverables will provide valuable information to the Conduit participants,
District Engineer, SECWCD, and water users along the lower Arkansas River. They will also
assist Conduit Participants in evaluating potential additional supply alternatives. This
information will be important for the Conduit during the Environmental analysis phase of the
Conduit.
Task Groun 600 - Perform Particinant Water Supnlv PlanninQ Evaluations
In conjunction with further evaluating available supplies and proposed operations, short and
long-term planning efforts for the Participants will be implemented. Planning will consist of
supply acquisition or development, water conservation efforts, or drought planning. These
evaluations will focus on individual participant water supplies.
Specific tasks include:
Task 601- Conduct Participant Planning Evaluations
Assist in evaluating availability of regional water supplies, current and future water use,
implementation of conservation measures, reuse of available supplies, implementation of non-
potable systems, drought response planning, and potential disposition of existing supplies to
facilitate other operations. Such planning efforts would also consider projects or processes
contemplated for implementation by the Arkansas Basin Roundtable and potential funding
opportunities.
Task 602 - Evaluate Native Water Right Yields
Evaluate native water right yields that may be available from each of the participants, including
potential re-use and maximization of the exchange potential of existing supplies.
Task 603 - Investigate Potential Operational Opportunities
Investigate and evaluate potential operational opportunities between various municipal and
agricultural water users which may include water banking, leasing, or fallowing opportunities.
