DRAFT
3.1 Data quality
Any genetic analysis is only as good as the data available. The data analyzed for this report
include six microsatellite, or simple sequence repeat (SSR), loci initially developed for a
congener of Gila cypha, B_onytail Chub. A total of 99 genotyped fish were used in these
analyses. eley,-5 1.c•
3.1.1 Missing data
Please note that this dataset is preliminary and was generated under serious time constraints.
Furthermore, available personnel were limited in number. As a result there are gaps in the
data. In this section I attempt to highlight those gaps so that a focused and efficient effort
can be made to improve the overall data quality.
The following figure illustrates the amount of missing data present at each locus analyzed
in this report. The.proportion of unresolved or missing alleles varies from 2.6% (locus 300) to
26% (locus 226). The percentages represent an uncompromising approach to assigning miss-
ing status to some alleles. If the allele was unresolved, or treated as one of two possibilities,
it was considered missing information.
3
