V. Evaluation: •
A. Monitoring plan.
B. Likelihood of success and potential consequences.
EXAMPLE
DATE
1. Background:
A. Recovery-priority management areas have been defined in the Pallid Sturgeon
Recovery Plan. Identify the area (1 thur 6), and specific habitats and locations
within the area in which reintroduction/augmentation will take place and
monitored.
B. What State, Federal, Tribal, and private interests have been involved in the
preparation and review of the plan.
C. A brief history is o tional to explain what management/hatchery activities
have taken place up to this point in time.
II, Goals and Objectives:
A. All objectives will be measurable and include: beginning and end dates, fish
population levels, number of individual sites, and any other information
critical to recovery.
B. Relate the objectives to specific recovery plan actions.
C. Consider other alternative management options that are consistent with the
Pallid Sturgeon Recovery Plan.
III. Determination of Need:
A. Identify and characterize the population which will be affected by the
introduction program. Techniques described by the following fishery
professionals should help in this effort ( Ihssen et al. 1981, Utter 1981, Philip
et al. 1986, Lacy 1987, Tullis and Moritz 1990, and Whitmore 1990).
B. Reintroduction decisions should be based on the biological status of the target
populations. This requires the population be described, indicating the general
health or condition of the population, whether it is declining, stable, or
improving, and indicate what activities would improve the status of the •
