CONDITIONS AND MEANS OF CILP URE
The last locality where significant numbers of humpback
chub were found was the Yampa River, sampled by Holden (2:21).
Knowing this, the sampling team from the Colorado Division of
Wildlife, Grand Junction Office, intensively sampled this area
in 1974 and no humpback or bonytail chub were found.
The only area where G. cy? was located was in Ruby Canyon
approximately 18 miles downstream from Grand Junction on the
Colorado River.
The method of capture waq gill nets.
Approximately 30 humpback chub were taken from pools 40-50
feet deep. Chubs ranged in size from 200-350 mm. Of the eight
fish retained for identification, one was sent to Colorado State
University, another went to Utah State University, and the rest
were kept.in Grand Junction.
