Application for Water Righu of the Eagle River Water& Sanitation District
March 5, 2002
Alan C. Martellaro, P.E.
Page 29
A. Sure.
Q. Do they also back the water up?
A. The structures in the Vail course
raise the surface profile.
Q. So then they do impound and back
water up?
A. I don't believe they impound water.
Q. How is it that the surface is raised
without an impoundment of water?
A. An impoundment is generally
something that is done to delay or store water
for a late r use. The water flows through.
There's no dead pool above these structures that
I witnesse d. It just flows right through. It
just slows the velocities down.
Q. Is the velocity of the stream
channel al tered by virtue of these structures?
A. Yes.
Q. How is it --
A. Well --
Q. Go ahead.
A. m- the average velocity is not, over
the reach of the white-water c-ourse.
Q. But immediately upstream of a course
structure, the velocity is less, correct?
Esquire Deposition Services (303) 316-0330
