A? ppiication for VJater Rights of the Eagle River Water& Sanitation District
March 5, 2002

Alan C. Martellaro, P.E.
Page 28
Q. Are you familiar with how the
structures in the V?il caurse are anchored into
the streambeds?
A. I've seen drawings.
Q. And what is your understanding of
how they're anchored?
A. There's no grout. There's large
boulders that are placed in the stream and
placed so that they tie together. I think some
of them are below the bottom of the stream
channel.
Q. You said there's no grout. Are you
certain of that?
A. I'm not, but I didn't see any grout,
I'm sorry, and the drawings don't indicate
there's grout, that I recall.
Q. All right. Do you know how deep
they're anchored into the banks?
A. No, not exactly.
Q. Do you know -- do you know whether
or not they're anchored into the actual channel?
A. I don't know how deep. I-- they
appear ta be from the drawings.
Q. You indicated that the structures
deflect water back and forth; is that correct?
Esquire Deposition Services (303) 316-0330
